Matboard Beam Bridge Design
For the second CIV102 project, we were challenged to build a Matboard bridge that could withstand the highest load. We were constrained to a sheet of Matboard and two tubes of contact cement. My teammates were Sepehr Samavi and Jonathan Rubianto. Pictures of our bridge can be seen below.

Our design philosophy for this bridge was to make it as simple as possible. We knew that the bridge would fail from shear stresses, so we included many diaphragms to delay that failure. We designed it to withstand 1 KN of force, but on testing day, it failed at about 950 N. This project made me appreciate how important construction quality is to the final outcome.
